The Landing, Celebrate Recovery’s student ministry, is geared towards middle and high school students and the battles they face. The mission of The Landing is to provide students with a safe place to process life and the struggles that accompany it, share tools that allow them to live emotionally and spiritually healthy lives, and help students experience the freedom found in Jesus Christ.
Celebrate Recovery is Christ-Centered. In other 12-step fellowships, you have the ability to choose your own higher power. In Celebrate Recovery we have the Higher Power, Jesus Christ, who chose you. We recognize that the 12 steps are a tool to help an individual build a relationship with Jesus and find freedom from many different issues, and as such, we do not limit our ministry to anyone’s specific struggle.
Yes, Celebrate Recovery is for anyone with a hurt, habit, or hang up.
Anyone who has lived in a fallen and broken world has typically been hurt by someone at some point, and sometimes we are aware of how that hurt affects us and sometimes we are not. A habit is any bad habitual behavior that affects our relationship with God or others. A hang-up is that thing that can randomly or regularly affect your relationship with God or others. Examples include, but are not limited to, past abuse, betrayal, substance abuse, gambling, pornography, anxiety, anger, co-dependency.
Our large group meetings are open for anyone to join at any time. Our step studies are open to newcomers for the first two to three months depending on class size.
Celebrate Recovery is geared towards addressing the deeper heart condition and sin problem we all have. Our large group meetings offer struggle specific small groups based on the needs of the church and the availability of leaders. We are always open to starting a new struggle specific group if we have two leaders of the same gender to start it. We also realize that everyone struggles with co-dependency or anger to some degree and anyone is welcome to join that group.
Co-dependency takes many forms in each of us. Some examples include people-pleasing, inability to say no, poor boundaries, an abusive relationship, getting into unhealthy relationships, and or seeking validation or affirmation from others when we should be getting that from God. Often times family members of people who have addictions or habits are recommended to attend this group.
You do not have to attend the large group, but it is strongly recommended. The large groups offer great teachings and amazing testimonies that speak of God’s faithfulness, but we also realize that it is in an honest Christian community that God will often provide the people and resources necessary to walk in freedom and wholeness in our relationship with God.
There is no registration for our large group meetings or even our step studies. You can just show up. If we do not have an open step study, we offer sign-ups at our large group meeting, so that a leader can give you a call when a new one starts.
We offer a ministry for children (elementary-aged) called Celebration Place and a ministry for youth (middle and high school-aged) called The Landing. We do not refer to either of these ministries as childcare as both of these ministries are in place to help children and youth gain emotional and spiritual health to help them navigate their own life experiences and help them have their identity in Jesus.
We encourage families to attend together whenever possible. However, we do not recommend family members sit in the same small groups as the loved ones they are supporting.
There is no cost to attend a large group or a step study. If you attend the dinner before our large group, there is a cost of $7 for dinner. The step study does require a curriculum that has four participant guides that cost $7 each. We are always willing to work out a payment plan for the curriculum. We never want financial reasons to stand in the way of someone getting help.
