Created in His Image

We serve a God who created each and every one of us in His image (Genesis 1:27). Nothing else in all of His creation was made in His image! There is an inherent value on human life that is sacred and holy because God is the giver of that life. Only He has the authority to give and take away. In Psalm 139, God’s heart for us—His deep knowledge, love, and purpose for us since conception—is displayed. 

“For you created my inmost being;  you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”—Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

God has a deep and perfect love for every single human at every stage of life, regardless of the circumstances. Because of this immense love, we should also seek to love and defend human life. There is eternal worth and value in every human being, and you can champion this truth by being both a voice for the voiceless and an advocate for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. 

Advocate with Your Vote

Jesus became your advocate by speaking and acting on our behalf so that you would be restored to God. Voting is a unique opportunity, and it is a privilege to act as an advocate in this way. In Proverbs 31:8, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

In this upcoming election, your vote on Amendment 4 can protect the lives of unborn children and the future care of women in Florida.

Here’s What Amendment 4 Says 

No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the legislature’s constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion. 

Here are the terms to pay attention to: 

• Amendment 4 contains vague language. When an amendment is voted into law with vague language, it is up to the courts to fill in the gaps that the amendment doesn’t specify.
• In this case, “no law” repeals all common-sense laws enacted to protect;
• “Viability” is not defined, which would allow late-term abortions through birth, when the baby is capable of feeling pain;
• “Patient’s health” includes physical, mental, emotional, or financial health;
• No definition of “healthcare provider” would include non-physicians;
• “Parental notification” does not include parental consent. 

How Should You Prepare?

As with any election, pray and ask God to give you discernment and seek out facts and greater understanding as it relates to what is on the ballot.

Besides voting, there are other ways you can be a voice for the voiceless! At Calvary, we partner with organizations that fight to care for, support, and protect women and children. You can support these organizations through prayer and with your availability, gifts, and finances.

ĒMA (Every Mother’s Advocate) 

A mother advocacy movement focused on eradicating the preventable causes of family separation. ĒMA believes when a mom in crisis is connected to advocacy and support, she is empowered to keep her family together.

4KIDS – His Caring Place

4KIDS exists to bring hope, homes, and healing to kids and families in crisis. His Caring Place has provided homes and support for women and their babies for over 30 years, encouraging women in their self-worth through community and mentorship.

City House 

CityHouse is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness for single mothers in South Florida and hopes to provide a pathway to a brighter future. By empowering single mothers with the necessary skills and resources, CityHouse assists in developing a healthy lifestyle and providing sustainable, loving, and proper care to their children.

Sheridan House

This multifaceted ministry is dedicated to helping families in crisis. From their Parenting On Purpose radio broadcast to Residential Boys’ Homes, single mom ministry, and counseling centers, Sheridan House serves the needs and helps strengthen children and families.

Broward County Right to Life

Since 1973, Broward County Right to Life has been advocating for women and the unborn by promoting legal protection and educating the public on the worth and dignity of all human life. They provide resources for both women who are pregnant and who have suffered from a past abortion.
